There is a phrase that I have heard stated more than once from pastors and leaders at my church. It is the idea that we need to “bring darkness into the light”. Sometimes that can be a scary thought. What will people think, will we be shunned, will anyone really care about our repentance or our pain? I think that is natural, but I have found that to embrace that idea, to really seek the Lord and find His truths for our lives, we really must bring the darkness into the light.
Sometimes it is not our own ‘darkness’ but that of another. Often, we don’t think we have the right or we can’t find the courage to confront. But we can always pray. Even when we don’t know what to say, God knows. He understands, and His word promises us that there is “nothing that will not be revealed”. I find that so encouraging! The Holy Spirit cares about us so much that He will reveal it all. It may not be in the way that we envision in our human weakness. But it’s still His promise.
Do you trust Him?
I really love this verse from Luke 12. It’s a beautiful promise that we can cling onto. Why not print it out and keep it where you’ll see it on a daily basis, as a beautiful reminder of God’s promise to you? I pray these words bring comfort in your times of trial. If you are struggling right now with hidden things, whether your own or someone else’s, trust God. Take whatever steps you need to take to receive help from those who are able to give you what you need in this world, but always trust that God’s word is true. God means what He says, and He is at work right now on your behalf!
